Full transition to the online submission of applications for the renewal of certain residence permits from 1 January 2027

On 14 October 2026, the Migration Department of the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection announced that, from 1 January 2027, applications for the renewal of residence permits in the categories listed below, which are covered by the digital residence permit renewal service, will be submitted exclusively online through the government portal gov.cy.

The service was launched in July 2026 and enables the online submission of applications for the renewal of residence permits with the same employer, for the following categories:

    • Temporary residence permits for Remunerated Employment,
    • Temporary residence permits for Domestic Employment,
    • Temporary residence permits for employees of Companies of Foreign Interests,
    • Temporary residence permits for Family Reunification (for family members of Long-Term Residents and employees of Companies of Foreign Interests),
    • Long-Term resident permits.

Accordingly, from 1 January 2027, renewal applications for the above permit categories will be submitted exclusively through the government portal, while submission in person at the Department’s service points will cease.

Users are reminded that access to the online services requires the creation and verification of a CY Login account, the government’s unified electronic identification system that provides secure access to digital public services. Further information on the creation and verification of a CY Login account is also available through gov.cy.

Collective Agreement Scheme to take effect 1 January 2027

The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) has announced that the Collective Agreement Scheme will come into effect on 1 January 2027.

The scheme allows hiring of foreign employees at a lower minimum salary amount if the employment is covered by a collective agreement.

To be granted a permit under the scheme, the foreign national must be offered a position with a yearly minimum salary of DKK 322,000 (2026 level); the position in which the foreign national is employed must be covered by a collective agreement; and the foreign national must be a citizen of one of 16 countries.

Companies must be certified before they can hire foreign employees, and before the employee can apply for a residence and work permit at SIRI.

SIRI expects that companies will be able to submit an application for certification at the beginning of December 2026 and applications will be processed from 1 January 2027 as the scheme comes into effect.

New application pages to apply for certification as well as residence and work permits will be launched on SIRI’s website.
