The work permit applicable to locally hired foreign employees is issued for up to a year (renewable). A work permit exemption applies to registered directors, managers and trade representatives. The EU Blue Card for highly skilled employees and the EU Intra-Company Transfer Permit are also available. Certain work-related activities are permitted on a Schengen visa, or visa waiver, for non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals posted from outside the EU/EEA for up to 90 days. Temporary Work Authorisation must first be obtained. This applies to the fulfilment of contractual obligations to a Bulgarian client company. Assignments where the employee remains on home contract should be registered with the Labour Inspectorate.
