A Residence Permit Based on Employment is usually issued for one year, with renewals in increments of one year for fixed-term contracts or four years for indefinite employment contracts. Foreign Special Experts with a qualifying salary, qualifications and experience, are exempt from labour market testing and may work in Finland without a residence permit for up to three months. The EU Blue Card for highly skilled employees and the EU Intra-Company Transfer Permit are also available. Third country nationals assigned from outside the EEA to perform certain work activities for up to 90 days in a 180-day period may be exempt from work and residence authorisation.
