The Work Permit for Senior Employees (Article 17) is for senior managers, shareholders or directors locally hired in Greece. Issued for up to two years, renewals may be granted for up to three years at a time.
The Short-Term Assignment for Technical Staff (Article 18, Para. 1E) is for assignees fulfilling contractual obligations to a client company for up to six months, related to the installation, test operation and maintenance of the supplied items. The assignee, a specialised technical worker, must remain on foreign payroll.
The EU Intra-Company Transfer Permit is also available. Although Greek law does provide for Blue Card applications, the criteria are limited and specific (both in terms of location and job title) and this category is not used in practice.
