The Residence Permit for work requiring expert knowledge is issued for up to two years, depending on the demand for qualified professionals in specialised areas and is renewable.
The Residence Permit based on a shortage of workers may be issued for up to one year and is renewable.
A Residence Permit for qualified professionals based on a service contract is issued for up to six months. And is renewable.
Assignments for the installation, testing, supervision and repair of equipment in fulfilment of a service contract may be work permit exempt for up to 90 days.
Nordic citizens are not required to apply for work and residence permits to live or work in Iceland.
