The temporary stay visa for highly qualified activity applies to scientific research, higher education professorial activity or highly qualified activity for up to one year. The applicant may either have a local contract with a Portuguese entity or remain on contract outside Portugal.
The temporary stay visa for transfer of workers or service providers applies to intra-company transfers or to transfers for the provision of services, for up to one year.
The residence visa for highly qualified activity applies to highly skilled employees with local contracts in Portugal or for highly skilled service providers who will be in Portugal for at least one year. It is not suitable for intra-company transfer. Residence visa holders must apply for a residence permit after arrival in Portugal.
The EU Blue Card for highly skilled employees and the EU Intra-Company Transfer Permit are also available.
