Information

The combined work and residence permit applies to foreign nationals from outside the EEA working in Sweden for over 90 days.

Applicants working in Sweden for up to 90 days must apply for a Short-Term Work Permit via the Swedish consulate in their country of residence without the expedited online process.

The EU Blue Card for highly skilled employees and the EU Intra-Company Transfer Permit are also available.

Nordic citizens do not require work or residence permits to live or work in Sweden.

Swiss nationals locally hired in or posted to Sweden do not require a work permit. A residence permit card must be obtained if the stay exceeds 90 days.

Any foreign workers posted to Sweden for more than five days must be registered online with the Swedish Work Environment Authority no later than the start date.

Swedish employers must notify the Tax Agency of the employment of a non-EEA citizen no later than the twelfth of the month after the employment starts.
